A warm, trustworthy home for ADHD, Autism and AuDHD.
Beyond The Label exists because the information out there is either too clinical, too scattered, or too sensational. We wanted a single, human place that treats neurodivergent people as people first.
Why we exist
Beyond The Label was born out of frustration. After years of feeling misunderstood, mislabelled and lost in long NHS waitlists, we wanted a single warm, honest place that brought together the practical and the personal — what to ask your GP, what Right to Choose actually means, what masking feels like at 4pm on a Tuesday.
We started with a notebook full of "things we wish someone had told us". This site is a much-loved expansion of that notebook — built slowly, on real time, by real neurodivergent humans.
We're not a clinic. We're not a charity (yet). We're a small team trying to make the road easier for the people who come after us.
What we do
- 📘 Plain-English information hubs on ADHD, Autism and AuDHD.
- 🧪 Free, validated screening tools for adults and children.
- 🏥 A maintained Right to Choose clinic directory with current wait times.
- 💼 Workplace and education support guides.
- 💌 Stories from members about the things that helped.
- 📰 News, blogs, videos and a growing helpful library.
What we believe
Human first
We write the way we'd want someone to write to us — warm, honest, without the clinical chill.
Evidence-led
We cite our sources, use validated screening tools, and update what we know as research changes.
Lived experience
Every page is shaped by neurodivergent people. We don't speak about you without you.
Practical
We aim for things you can use today — a letter to your GP, a script for your manager, a fact you can take to your school.
A note on the limits of this site
Beyond The Label is not a medical service. The information here is for guidance and lived-experience purposes only. Our screening tools indicate likelihood, not diagnosis — only a qualified clinician can do that. Wait times in the Right to Choose directory are estimates; always confirm with the provider. If you're in crisis, please contact your GP, NHS 111, or the Samaritans on 116 123.
